How to get rid of weeds between concrete pavers
How to get rid of weeds between concrete pavers
Concrete pavers, sidewalk sections, or other concrete with split sections can make it difficult to keep weeds away from your home. You can spray weedkiller, blast them with a power washing machine, but these methods will not last the season and won't be as effective. Polymeric sand can be used to seal concrete joints and keep weeds away. This is what you will need and how to complete the task.
Ingredients:
- Flathead screwdriver
- Polymeric sand
- Cup
- Broom
- Leaf blower
- Garden sprayer
- Spray bottle
- White Vinegar
- Dishwashing soap
Step 1: Get rid of the Weeds
Combine white vinegar and a teaspoon of dish detergent in a spray bottle. This will cause the vinegar to stick to the weeds for a long time enough to kill them. Spraying weeds in the sun and heat is best for maximum effectiveness.
Step 2: Get rid of the weeds
Either wait until the next morning to get rid of the weeds, or dig them up live. You must get rid of all weeds before you seal your concrete joints. To pull them out, you can use your hands or a flathead drill.
Step 3: Fill joints with sand
Use a cup to pour the sand into concrete joints. Use your broom to sweep the sand into the joints. Use a leaf blower or broom to remove any sand that has accumulated on your concrete. This step is important!
Step 4: Mist the polymeric sand
After you have made sure that there is no sand in the concrete joints, and not on the surface, use a garden sprayer to mist the concrete joints. Water should be applied to the concrete joints with 3-4 water applications. When you are doing this, there are two things you should remember. One: Avoid puddling. Two: Do not wait longer than three minutes between each application. Also, you should only apply small sections at once to prevent the sand from sitting too long between watering. After you have finished spraying, allow your patio to dry for 24 hours. Protect your concrete joints with polymeric Sand after sealing them.
